2 Nephi 16:8. Isaiah is speaking
"Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said: Here am I; send me.
Then in Verse by Verse: The Book of Mormon, I read:
Isaiah's call to serve is recorded along with further instructions he received. "Who will go for us?" It is the work of the Father and the Son. Isaiah volunteered for missionary service, echoing Jehovah's response to the Father in the Grand Council in Heaven. Young men, women, and couples by the tens of thousands these days repeat the same sentiment when accepting mission calls: "Here am I; send me."
Today I am so thankful for all of those men and women, young and old, who have answered the call: Here am I; send me. I have a whole new appreciation for missionaries and what they are doing. I know how scary it is, the unknown. I know how tired they are. I know how hard it is to step out of your comfort zone. I am so thankful that our first 3 grandchildren have answered the call and served. I'm thankful for their example. It made it easier for us to go. If they have so much courage, so can we. I hope that many more will be able to serve. The adversary is working hard to stop the work and keep them from coming. I am in awe of single Senior Sister Missionaries. They have so much courage. I'm so thankful Chris and I are able to be here together. Senior missionaries are so needed. I just had no idea. I had no idea how tired I would be or how high the learning curve would be. I had no idea how much I would learn and stretch and groan. But I'm thankful, so thankful. I'm thankful for Jesus Christ and for His love for me. I'm thankful for all that is possible because of Him. He loves me and understands me. I'm thankful that God loves me. He listens to my constant whining and to my grateful prayers. He watches over our children and grandchildren and all of the people we love. He understands every language. He understands me. I'm thankful for the companionship and help from the Holy Ghost. I'm so thankful that I believe what I believe, I know what I know, I feel what I feel. I'm just so thankful!!!
Now today it is Sunday. I just woke up from a long winter's nap and I'm going to hurry and post a few pictures of our wonderful weekend with Adam, Elana, Isaac, and Eliza.
