I Think We (and Fall) are Settling In
I'm writing because Carol says she is too sick to write. I've been sick, too, but I'm farther along than she is. We are both dragging. I think it's head colds. Neither of us has much energy. To let you know how sapped Carol is I'll just say that we finally broke down and drove the 30 minutes to Dillard's on Friday afternoon but left after just a few minutes because we were both just too tired.
We are both settling in to our jobs so neither of us is quite as hammered at work as we were a few
My job is pretty routine. It reminds me why I moved out of accounting. It's so routine. Everyday, triage the email, pay the utility bills, etc. etc. etc.
One thing that we like is that we get to go to the airport regularly to pick up or drop off missionaries. Even though transfers are every six weeks there seems to be a constant stream of missionaries either coming or going. President Strong is really busy so we get to go.
Last week we took an Elder to the airport who has been here about 15 months. Evidently, a while ago he was skate boarding down a hill. When he got to the bottom he decided to hang on to their mission truck to get towed back to the top. Near the top he lost control and fell. The tire of the truck ran over his head. That's right! I said 'head'. So now he is having short term memory issues and is going home for some R&R. I hope he gets it. He's the fourth of ten children. He is really hoping to come back soon.
On Monday we are going to pick up another elder who is returning after requiring medical attention at home.
A while ago we posted about two sisters living in a haunted apartment. When they were got to their area they were hated and despised. This is what they posted on the mission Facebook page Friday.
It's pretty incredible. They have so much faith. They have really looked adversity in the face and pushed forward.
Because we are not feeling so well we did our Sunday visits closer to home this week. We went to the Pea Ridge Branch and to the Bella Vista Ward. Of course, Sister Johnson to treats. Of course, they had chocolate in them. Of course, one of the Elders is allergic to chocolate. Can you believe that? He says it's one of the rarest of all allergies
These are some photos that Sister Johnson took of trees by our office the other day.
