Last Sunday we talked in church and I played a piano solo. I think it all went ok. I have more anxiety as I get older and I was worried I'd bomb the piano, but it went fine. My prayers were answered.
Tuesday was a crazy day. One of the senior sisters here in the office disappeared. At least we thought she did. She left her apartment at 7:30 in the morning and had some appointments with missionaries an hour or so away. She never made it. They called us and said they waited 2 hours. We started to get worried. She's not that inconsiderate to let them wait that long. We tried to call her multiple times but it just went straight to voice mail. We called everyone she was supposed to see and she didn't go to any of the places she said. At about 2:00 we went over to her apartment. Her car wasn't there and she wasn't in her apartment. So we called the 911. We had to give them lots of information. We sent them a picture of her. We were worried sick. SHE walked into the office at 3:00. She had changed her mind about some of the errands and did different errands and she forgot to charge her phone. Pretty much the whole day was a bust and we all went home feeling a little sick.
Plus I got a rude email from a landlord. I was trying to secure an apartment and I sent him the two papers we need him to fill out, a w9 and an apartment information sheet. He wrote back and said, "I feel like you want to be in full control and that doesn't work for us. If we move forward we would be more than happy to do so but will not be filling out any of your paperwork." I told him very kindly that the w9 is reguired by law. We can't pay rent without it. He never answered me. Guess we won't be getting that apartment and I don't think I want to deal with him anyway. Seriously?! It was one of those times I really wanted to say something snarky but I'm a missionary after all.
Wednesday morning we went to a goodbye breakfast for a missionary here. She's going home early for medical reasons. It was a fun morning. Afterward, we took her to the airport. We will miss her!
When we got back from the airport we had our weekly meetings with the mission president. Since it's transfers next week, we had a lot to discuss and I have a list of things to do. Nothing very hard though. Whew! I think I can do it all without praying for a miracle, like last time.
Thursday was celebration time! I got a lease to sign...it came in the mail. The lady didn't know how to use her scanner to email it. I've been trying to secure an apartment for some sister missionaries in Harrison for several weeks. They have to move out of their apartment because there are new owners and it needs a major remodel. According to the RS president, all the apartments in Harrison are dumps! We found them a little house to rent. I was so excited when it came that I was walking around the office holding the lease on my heart and patting it. I called the sister missionaries and they were screaming and shouting for joy! Funny what we can get excited about. Right?
Friday was our anniversary: 46 years. Keith gave us a gift certificate for our birthdays for the Preachers Son Restaurant so we went there for our anniversary. It was a very hoity toity type of place. There was no salt and pepper on the tables and I didn't dare ask for some. There were about five items on the menu to choose from. I had Salmon and Elder Johnson had shrimp. There was no description, so we had to ask how it was prepared. It was all served in a big bowl. The food was good. Then we asked if there was a dessert menu. She said, No, we just have one dessert, brown sugar panna cotta. We said ok we'll have one. Then when she walked away Chris said to me, Do you know what that is? I said no, so I had to google it. It was really good. I wish I could describe our waitress. She kept saying, Definitely. Definitely. Definitely. It was fun and funny and back at the office we had fun describing to the missionaries what the term hoity toity means.....and Panna Cotta.

| The Preacher's Son is in a former church. It's got pretty windows with birds and twigs as you can see in the background. |
There's a senior couple here that just purchased a place in Cherokee Village, Arkansas. That's where they've been serving and they love it so much they bought a Town Home. When they called Salt Lake to tell them, and see if they can stop paying their ward, they were told this happens all the time. Senior missionaries love where they are and they decide to settle there. Who knew!
Saturday is cleaning day. Elder Johnson was vacuuming and he vacuumed up my embroidery floss. I can't think of the name right now, but it's thick thread. The vacuum turned off cause it was clogged; he quickly sat down and pulled out all the thread. Then he stood up and to his surprise the vacuum started going again because it wasn't clogged anymore and it vacuumed up the whole pile he had on the floor, plus it unraveled a ton more. When I walked into the living room he was hard at work pulling it out of the vacuum....a second time. I must not have heard him scream. I was in the shower.
