Last Sunday after church we went for a walk at Tanyard Falls. There are signs everywhere about the names of trees and bushes. Nothing has leaves or is in bloom right now, so we'll need to go back every month and watch it progress into spring. Lovely day!
6 week training
We had 6 week training on Tuesday. All the missionaries who have been out 6 weeks and their trainers come in for training. The office staff is in charge of providing lunch. The mission pays for it of course. The office staff takes a little bit of time to train the missionaries in their particular area, like Housing for me. I tell them rotting food invites maggots.
Missionaries are so cute! We're having Chicken Tetrazzini, salad, and Garlic Bread. |
We were really happy Friday when the couple we visited 2 weeks ago texted and asked if Elder Johnson could come give their baby a blessing. He's sick. We called the missionaries and they met us there Friday night. It was a sweet opportunity. (p.s. they have 6 cats in a tiny apartment:)
Saturday the Rogers Spanish Elders asked us if we'd drive them to Monett for a baptism. It's out of their area, but one of them had taught the man that was being baptized so they got permission from the president to go. Monett is a little over an hour away, not bad. It was nice going to the baptism and of course, we loved being with the missionaries. It was a great end to our day.
Transfer Week
Always a busy week: meetings with the president, decisions to make about housing and cars. Who is going into what apartment? Who needs a bed? Who needs a desk? A chair? Who needs a car? Who doesn't get a car? Who needs supplies? Who has packages in the office that need delivered? How to make it all happen and get it where it belongs. 15 new missionaries arriving, 10 faithful missionaries going home, 4 heading back to Nauvoo in a couple of weeks. Hugs, smiles, tears, laughter. Wednesday evening we had a missionary stay overnight with us. He is going home early. We took him to the airport early in the morning and got back to Bentonville in time to start the transfer loop at 8:00 am. We only had one little glitch on the loop. One missionary didn't get the word that there would be 3 in her apartment. Guess what, neither did I. So I told her to get on the phone with her ward members to see if she could round up an air mattress and some bedding. Missionaries have to be very flexible and resourceful and they are!
There is lots of hugging and lots of praying at transfers.....at every stop on the loop...and so COLD!

Sister Price has finished her mission. She's on her way home. We'll miss her. She's been one of the office missionaries and works on developing ways for the missionaries to improve their "finding." |
